چکیده

In this paper, we study topology-independent link activation (TILA) transmission scheduling protocols for multihop code-division multiple-access (CDMA) packet radio networks. We focus on quality-ofservice (QoS) provisioning for each communication link, particularly when node mobility is considered. We examine the requirements of link activation (LA) transmission scheduling, and show that block designs with resolvable structures satisfy these requirements. We then present a framework for TILA scheduling, which is based on the theory of resolvable balanced incomplete block (RBIB) designs. The proposed framework guarantees conflict-free transmission slots in each frame for each communication link by mathematical properties of RBIB designs. With the proposed framework, we study and evaluate one series of RBIB design construction: affine planes; we then propose TILA scheduling algorithms based on the results derived. Analysis results show that the proposed algorithms outperform previously known schemes.

Scheduling with base station diversity and fairness analysis for the downlink of CDMA cellular networks

Efficient packet scheduling in CDMA cellular networks is a challenging problem due to the time variant and stochastic nature of the channel fading process. Selection diversity is one of the most effective techniques utilizing random and independent variations of diverse channels to improve the performance of communication over fading channels. In this paper, we propose two packet scheduling sch...

Channel states dependent fair service: a new packet scheduling algorithm for CDMA

In this paper, we address the problem of packet scheduling for high speed CDMA, which can provide high speed data service for mobile users. We first investigate the appropriate multiple access schemes in high speed CDMA. We find through mathematical analysis that TDM is more efficient than CDM for downlink in high speed CDMA networks in some general situations. Based on this finding, we propose...

Smart packet access and call admission control for efficient resource management in advanced wireless networks

Efficient management of rather limited resources, including radio spectrum and mobile-terminal battery power, has been the fundamental design challenge of wireless networks and one of the most widespread research problems over the years. MAC (Medium Access Control) for packet access and CAC (Call Admission Control) for connection-oriented service domains are commonly used as effective tools to ...

QoS-Enabled Broadband Mobile Access to Wireline Networks

Third-generation wireless systems, known as IMT-2000 within the ITU, offer opportunities to support a wide range of multimedia services. Packet data services will play a major role in these new multimedia services. A key component of packetized data services is to ensure end-to-end QoS requirements through efficient management of the network’s resources. In this article we present an overview o...

Transmit Power Control Using Probabilistic Target for DS-CDMA Packet Mobile Radio

Abstract A new transmit power control (TPC) is proposed that changes TPC target randomly in order to obtain the capture effect for DS-CDMA packet mobile radio. The uplink capacity of a DS-CDMA packet mobile radio system with proposed random TPC in a frequency selective fading channel is evaluated by computer simulation. The simulation results show that random TPC provides larger link capacity t...
